Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):5-7 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004001

The authors evaluate restrospectively early urological complications in 304 kidney transplantations performed during the years 1995 - 2002. They offer general options for management of individual complications, which they afterwards specify as used methods of their transplantation centre are concerned. The number of complications decreased with increasing experience of the surgical team. The most important urological complications were urinary fistulae (3.9 %) and obstruction of the ureterovesical anastomoses (2.6 %), which comprised 87% of all urological complications. Surgeons and urologists are present in the kidney transplantation team. The...

Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):8-10 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004002

The aim of the study is to draw medical attention to an unusual cause the syndrome of acute scrotum with a different diagnostic scheme. In my paper I present the case of two patients with Henoch-Schoenlein purpura, in whom the syndrome of acute scrotum occured. In one case we proceeded to surgical revision, as the torsion of the seminal cord could not be excluded on the basis of physical examination and ultrasound. Only epididymitis was found during surgery. The diagnosis of HSP was established only later in this patient. With the knowledge of HSP diagnosis, we adopted a conservative approach in the second case. The torsion of seminal cord was...

L. Zámečník, J. Stolz, V. Soukup, T. Hanuš

Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):11-13 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004003

The aim of the study is to evaluate the role and effectiveness of the treatment of plastic induration of penis with the administration of interferon-alpha 2b. We treated altogether 16 patients withl local application of interferon-alpha 2b (Intron?, Roferon A?) into the plaque from march 1999 to april 2003. The dose was 3 milion IU directly into the plaque weekly, altogether 3-15 times. Subjective improvement was seen in all 16 patients: the curvation of penis diminished in 15 patients (94 %), pain during erection disappeared in 16 patients (100 %), and change in consistency and size of the plaque occured in 11 patients (69 %). Improvement in erection...

Longer lifetime and aging population is conected with higher incidens of neoplasmas. In urological practice we are confronted with duplicit, triplicit or even more multiplicit tumors. Some of them can be rare but clinical singnificant. Nesidioms belong among them, because they are localized in retroperitoneum, vhere urological procedures are often provide. Endocrinological activity can be relevant for urologist as show our experiance.

Background: Bladder hemangioma is a rare benign vascular tumor occurring in any age group. It may occur singly or in association with systemic arteriovenous malformations. Methods: We report a case of bladder hemangioma in a 35-year-old man who was admitted to our hospital for the evaluation of painless hematuria. Computerized tomography and MRI demonstrated bladder wall thickening with multiple foci of calcification in the vascular tumor. Results: Immediately after biopsy and lesion fulguration, the hematuria disappeared. The specimen was pathologically diagnosed as cavernous hemangioma of the urinary bladder. To establish...

Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):21-23 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004006

Introduction and purpose: Hereditary forms account for approximately 10 % of all prostate cancer (PC). The aim of this study was: to evaluate significance of positive familial history as risk factor of PC and efficiency of PC familial screening. Material and methods: From January 1999 to December 2001 was detected 68 men (average age 65,8 years, range 52 - 81 years) with histologically proved PC. A occurence of PC was ascertained in a families retrospectivelly and prospectivelly. 207 "healthy" relatives men (aged 40 - 75 years) was examined (digital rectal examination, serum level of PSA, eventually prostate biopsy) prospectivelly....

Treatment of renal carcinoma with metastases

Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):25-27 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004007

The approach to treatment mode and adjuvant therapy of patients with generalized carcinoma of the kidney has been reevaluated significantly in the past 20 years. Formerly unambiguously conservative treatment has been changed to active on the basis of new information from general oncology and immunology. On the basis of distinct criteria we use surgical therapy together with adjuvant administration of combined immunotherapy in selected patients. There were 1621 patients treated for malignant kidney tumour in the urological department of the General Faculty Hospital and 1st medical Faculty in the years 1980 - 2002. Out of these, in 103 patients a...

Skeletal affection in carcinoma of prostate represents a special problem

I. Kolombo, J. Kolombová, D. Berndt, M. Hrubý, J. Porš, J. Fröml, P. Brzák, V. Matouš-Malbohan, P. Kašák, J. Hain, P. Faltus, J. Tichý, R. Pabišta, P. Grubský, O. Kaplan, L. Smetana, E. Jůzová, M. Šmehil, R. Šverma

Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):29-33 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004008

Prostate cancer is connected very often with bone involvement. Skeletal problems can be very serious and complex. Tumor induced directly bone formation and resorption, but the increase in bone resorption may also be a generalized phenomenon that is related to endocrine and paracrine changes. Androgen supression is basic cancer treatment but has negative influence to bone metabolism too. Authors discuss new knowledge about sequence of events of bone resorption through bone formation so called the coupling phenomenon and bone hunger syndrom with secondary hyperparathyreoidism on the basis of own and literary experience. Skeletal involvement is independent...

Urineanalysis and diagnostic imaging in renal injuries

R. Grill, F. Záťura, M. Urban, I. Hartman

Ces Urol 2004, 8(1):34-38 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2004009

The authors evaluate the urinary sediment investigation in correlation with the severity of kidney involvement and the importance of individual imaging methods in a joint group of patients with kidney trauma from two university hospitals - faculty hospitals Praha-Vinohrady and Olomouc. The results suggest that hematuria represents an important part of the diagnosis, but it cannot be directly correlated with the grade of kidney involvement and additional investigations, which view renal parenchyma and its surroundings have to be added in all cases. The diagnostic scheme is divided mainly between CT and ultrasound investigation (US). CT is the option...
