3D reconstruction of hollow organs - original diagnostic set

F. Zá»ura, A. Herout, J. Křen, J. Rosenberg, M. Rosenberg

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):5-7

Intraluminal ultrasonographic imaging of urethra was used for the lumina reconstruction giving a three-dimensional model enabling a detailed analysis of the length, shape and lumen of the urethra. After verifying the method, a universal computer program was developed enabling not only the analysis of urethra but also analysis of other cavities, such as renal pelvis, ureter and urinary bladder.

3-D ultrasonography in urology. the first experiences when using the spatial reconstruction of a ultrasonography imaging

F. Zá»ura

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):8-12

3-D ultrasonography, as a spatial reconstruction of an organ examined using 2-D ultrasonographic images, facilitates, accelerates and makes precise the ultrasonographic diagnostics even in urology. The basic principles of the spatial imaging of ultrasonography imaging are discussed. In the urolological diagnostics, the advantages of the spatial imaging can be utilized particularly for the examination of the prostatic carcinoma. Good results have been also achieved by the 3-D testicle ultrasonography where the focus changes, which fail to be identified by other techniques, can be assessed more exactly. The kidney examination is less easy due to the...

Oncocytoma of a horseshoe kidney

T. Hrubán, R. Fiala, M. Janík, F. Zá»ura

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):13-15

The case study of a female patient with a horseshoe kidney affected by oncocytoma is presented. The patient was examined by ultrasonography angiography CT and MRI. The oncocytoma had not been identified before the histopathological examination of the preparation took place. The oncocytoma in a horseshoe kidney is a very rare disease.

Priapism as a complication of erectile dysfunction treatment: case study

O. ©makal, J. Vrána, F. Aigl, F. Zá»ura

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):16-17

In a 62-year-old man, treated for erectile dysfunction (following the radical prostatectomy) by autoapplication of Karon, priapism developed due to exceeding the dose recommended. The low-flow priapism was managed by the intracavity application of diluted Adrenalin.

Effectivity of ESWL of stones in upper and lower part of ureter

M. Havlík, B. Chwajol

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):18-22

The authors present retrospective results as to the effectivity of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) in cases with ureteric calculi when treated them by using the Medilit M6 lithotriptor both in upper and lower part of ureter. The study concerns 561 pacients with upper and 405 pacients with stones in lower part of ureter. For suc-cesfull treatment of 416 pacients suffering from upper ureteric stones we carried out only a single ESWL session (74,1 %), two sessions in 113 cases (20,2 %) and more than two sessions for 49 cases (8,7 %).The total effectivity of ESWL in cases of proximal ureterolithiasis was 94,3 % (529 pacients). By pacients...

Subclinical varicocele

V. ©tudent, F. Zá»ura

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):23-26

A sample of 102 subfertile patients who have undergone surgeries for varicocele is discussed. In 68 men (67 %) a clinically identificable varicocele has been found, confirmed by the Doppler ultrasonography In 34 men (33 %), a subclinical varicocele has been identified by means of Doppler ultrasonography. In 75 % patients with a clinical varicocele and in 81 patients with the subclinical varicocele, the laparoscopic sur-geries have improved the sperm density and motility. The difference in improvement between these two groups is not statistically significant. The Doppler examination of scrotum is recommended for the subfertile male patients in order...

Continence and erectile dysfunction following the radical prostatectomy. assessment by a correspondence questionnaire method

R. Fiala, F. Zá»ura

Ces Urol 1999, 3(4):27-30

Radical prostectomy is the only treatment by that the localized adenocarcinoma of prostate can be managed. However, this aggressive treatment may also cause longterm complications including particularly incontinence and erectile dysfunction, which significantly affect the quality of life of the individual patients. The frequency of these complications has been assessed in 63 patients who underwent the radical prostectomy in 1997. To explore these complications an anonymous questionnaire was sent by mail to the patients. This questionnaire is considered to be a more effective method when compared with the face-to-face interview. In this sample, 54 %...
