Objective: Aim of study is evaluation of continence in the patients with orthotopic diversion after the cystectomy.
Materials and Methods: Authors assessed group of 57 patients, who were operated in Department of Urology in Hradec Králové in years 1995-2001. All patients underwent cystectomy for locally advanced bladder cancer with orthotropic pouch. In 55 patients there was created pouch VIP (Vesica lleale Padovana) and in 2 W-pouch. Patients were evaluated subjectively questioning on subjective appreciation of continence by interview and objectively per urodynamic study.
Results: According to subjective appreciation is 19 patients continent, 28 patients continent with episodes of nocturnal incontinence, 7 patients with incontinence, 3 patients with overcontinence. Urodynamically was found out: Average length of functional urethral profile is 26 cm; maximal closure pressure is 86 cm H20; maximal capacity is 572 ml and compliance is 22 cm H20/ml.
Conclusion: Majority of patients is satisfied with continence after cystectomy. These results support findings of urodynamic study.
