Matějková M, Pacigová D, Juhász A, Čermák M, Kočárek J. Flexible nephroscopy used for renal stone extraction during laparoscopic and robot-assisted pyeloplasty. Introduction: Pyelolithiasis is a common accompanying effect of pyeloureteric junction (PUJ) stenosis. Therefore, it is convenient to treat the stenosis and the lithiasis at the same time. The video shows flexible nephroscopy used for renal stone extraction during laparoscopic and robot-assisted pyeloplasty. Description of the clinical case: We present a set of ten patients aged 36-67 indicated for pyeloplasty due to PUJ stenosis whose lithiasis has been proved by ultrasonography,...

Ces Urol 2017, 21(2):122-128 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2017022
Brisuda A, Babjuk M, Stolz J. Intravesical chemotherapy using heat energy in patiens with urothelial carcinoma of the urinary bladder. Major statement: The authors present an overview on intravesical termotherapy using heat energy in treatment of patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. Furthermore, their own experience with this method is presented. Intravesical chemotherapy currently represents an alternative treatment in patiens with high risk non-muscle invasive urothelial carcinoma failing other intravesical treatment or refusing radical cystectomy. Substitution of BCG instillation during BCG shortage represents another indication. Currently,...
Voiding dysfunction in patients with post‑traumatic spinal cord lesion: the urologist's role

Havlová K. Voiding dysfunction in patients with post-traumatic spinal cord lesion: the urologist's role. Urological care of patients with a spinal cord lesion begins immediately after the injury. Approaches to treatment and to bladder evacuation are different in various phases of the spinal cord shock. It is important to diagnose the definitive type of lower urinary tract dysfunction and thus establish appropriate treatment. This helps to prevent complications and maintain a high quality of life.

Jarolím L, Veselý Š, Schmidt M, Dušková K, Carmo JD, Novák V, Babjuk M. Follow-up and treatment of patients following radical prostatectomy with positive surgical margins. Major statement: The positive margins of the radical prostatectomy specimen is an unfavorable prognostic sign which is the indication of adjuvant treatment. Nearly a third of patients with such a finding, however, are alive with no evidence of disease and do not need further treatment. Aim: The finding of positive surgical margins obtained in radical prostatectomy is an adverse prognostic factor that is usually an indication for adjuvant therapy. The study focused on long-term results...

Šarapatka J, Šmakal J, Vrána J. Functional results of pyeloplasty performed in infancy. Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effectiveness of early pyeloplasty by comparing pre-operative and post-operative ultrasound (US) and radionuclide findings in a group of children undergoing surgery for ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJ) in the first year of life, with a group of children undergoing surgery later in life. Method: A prospective evaluation of a group of children who underwent surgery for UPJ obstruction between 2004-2012 at University Hospital Olomouc was made. 190 children underwent surgery, of which 110...

Macek P, Stevens M, Novák K, Pešl M, Sobotka R, Hanuš T. First and second generation nephrometry scores for predicting peri- and post-operative results of kidney resection. Introduction: Assessment of the first and the second generation nephrometric scores (NS) and their relationship with selected peri- and postoperative results of partial nephrectomies. We tested the correlation of NS with duration of warm ischemia (WI) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGF) change in per cent. Patients and methods: Prospective assessment of patients undergoing PN between 11/2015 and 6/2016. Tumor size, RENAL, PADUA, DAP scores and C-index as the first-generation...

Paldu V, Šámal V, Mečl J. Efficacy and safety of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy in the 21th century - controversy and clinical practice. Objective: Evaluation of extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy efficacy and safety in a prospectively followed group of patients treated by this procedure. Determination of the factors that may affect efficacy of the procedure and analysis of the possible risk factors for the development of renal parenchymal damage due to the use of shock wave. Methods: We assessed 301 extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy procedures performed in 250 patients from December 2012 to October 2015. All procedures were...

Bocková J, Kuldan R. Spontaneous rupture of renal angiomyolipoma We present a case report of spontaneous rupture of an angiomyolipoma with bleeding into the retroperitoneum. A hirty three year-old woman with spontaneous rupture of an angiomyolipoma presented with progressive anemia. Bleeding into the retroperitoneum due to sponaneus rupture of an angiomyolipoma was diagnosed. This situation required surgical revision and left-sided nephrectomy.

Nechanská B, Nedbálek A, Pabišta R. Thrombosis of the superficial dorsal vein of the penis (Penile Mondor's Disease). Penile Mondor disease is a rare thrombosis of the superficial dorsal vein of the penis. It is characterized by a palpable subcutaneous mass at the root of the penis or circumferential mass near the coronary groove. The aetiology is usually unknown. Diagnosis is based on medical history and physical examination and confirmed by ultrasonography with Doppler colour flow mapping. It is a benign disease and therapy is conservative in most cases. The aim of this work is to summarise the information about this disease...
