Zachoval R, Krhut J. Warning time and his role in the conservative treatment of overactive bladder. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine the significance of warning time for the evaluation of treatment efficacy of overactive bladder syndrome. Methods: The PubMed database was searched for all relevant clinical studies evaluating warning time for the medicamentous treatment of overactive bladder. Results: Four clinical studies evaluating three different drugs for the treatment of overactive bladder were found. The value of warning time increased in active arms compared to placebo in all studies, in three of them significantly. Various methods...

Fiala V, Jirásková Z, Drlík M, Rappová AM, Kantorová A, Kočvara R. Postnatal activation of the hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis (minipuberty) and undescended testicle. It is possible to measure higher hormonal activity (so called minipuberty) during first months of life, hormonal levels during this period are as high as in true puberty. The hypothalamo-pituitary-gonadal axis is activated in both sexes, in boys the peak is between first and third month of life, in girls this period is longer. This hormonal surge has an important impact on the development of external genitalia and on gonadal maturation. Defective minipuberty is connected with failed...

Peroperative histology during robotic-assisted radical prostatectomy with lymphadenectomy: a feasibility study. Introduction: Peroperative histology (IFS) during robot-assisted radical prostatectomy (RARP) is used to ensure better oncological outcomes of surgery and, thanks to the possibility of safer nerve-sparing surgery (NS), which could improve functional outcomes such as continence. and erection. Aim: This work aims to develop our own IFS technique, verify its feasibility and describe its peroperative results in patients indicated for RARP with...

Motolová M. The place of laparoscopy in the surgical treatment of urolithiasis. Objective: The aim of this case study is to show the advantages of laparoscopic management for therapy of complex and large pelvi-/uretherolithiasis, particularly in situations where an endoscopic approach is not successful or feasible. Simultaneously it should encourage the experienced laparoscopic surgeons to broaden their fields of interest to the therapy of urolithiasis. Methods: This single-center, retrospective study presents data collected from 02/2017 to 02/2021. Inclusion criteria: Primary laparoscopic access for therapy of lithiasis in upper urinary tract in a...

Krajíčková M, Špůrková Z, Kotlář M. Rare case of benign prostatic hyperplasia with extensive fibrolipomatous metaplasia of the prostatic stroma. We report a case of a 79-year-old patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia. He was admitted to the department of urology at our hospital to undergo a transurethral resection of the prostate. Pathological examination confirmed benign prostatic hyperplasia with areas of extensive fibrolipomatous stromal metaplasia. While the presence of adipose tissue in the prostatic stroma is sporadic, fibrolipomatous stromal metaplasia is an extremely rare finding. It has been described in the literature only once. The main...
