Ces Urol 2019, 23(1):13-15

Hora M, Stránský P, Pitra T, Ürge T, Trávníček I. Laparoscopic radical cystectomy with open ureteroileostomy. Aim of study: The aim of this work is to present our approach to laparoscopic radical cystectomy (LRC), which we introduced in ERAS implementation. ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) in Radical Cystectomy (RC) includes 22 measures, one of which is the use of mini‑invasive approaches. For these reasons, we have implemented laparoscopy for RC, although not all ERAS measures have been introduced. Pure laparoscopy versus robotic has limited possibilities for intracorporal diversion, so we combine laparoscopic ablation phase with extracorporal...

Trachta J, Kynčl M, Škába R. Diagnosis, therapy and urological complications of cloacal malformations. Major Statement: A review article about the diagnostic tools and management of persistent cloaca malformation that belongs to one of the most complex new-born anomalies with a need of the life-long follow-up by pediatric and general urologist. The majority of cloaca patients undergo multiple reconstructive procedures. Cloacal malformation is the most severe form of anorectal malformation in girls. The complex treatment is possible only in specialized pediatric centers and life-long follow-up is needed. Females with persistent cloaca suffer also from...

Háček J, Brisuda A, Čechová M, Babjuk M. Correlation of expression of Ki-67, MCM2, MCM5 and p53 in tissue specimens and cell blocks in patients with urothelial carcinoma. Major statement: The study deals with immunocytochemistry as an additional method to urinary cytology examination. We present the correlation of selected immunochemical markers expression in tissues and cell blocks in patients with urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma. Aim: The aim of the study is to verify whether expression of selected immunochemical markers in tumor tissue of patients with urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma correlates with expression in cytology (cell block)...

Major statement: The combination of MRI and PSA density can be safely used to decide whether or not to perform a prostate biopsy in patients with elevated PSA as long as appropriate PIRADS and PSAD thresholds are used. Aim: The aim of this prospective study was to show the benefits of PSA density and MRI in reduction of unnecessary biopsies without compromising detection of significant prostate cancer of patients in first biopsy and rebiopsy groups.
