Major statement: Intravenous administration normal saline (0.9% sodium chloride solution) during CT excretory urography does not lead to a demonstrable improvement in filling or opacification of the upper urinary tract, and its routine use is not justified.SummaryAim: The aim of this study was to retrospectively evaluate whether intravenous administration of normal saline 0.9% sodium chloride solution (0.9% NaCl) during CT excretory urography improves filling and opacification of the upper urinary tract. Material and methods: A cohort of patients referred for CT excretory urography between January and June 2025 was analysed. The standard CT protocol...

Introduction: Subinguinal microsurgical varicocelectomy is recommended by the European Association of Urology as the treatment of choice in adult patients due to the lowest rates of recurrence and complications. The main advantages of the microsurgical approach include high optical magnification, reduced risk of hydrocele formation, and low recurrence rates, albeit at the cost of increased technical complexity [1-3]. Our department is equipped with the ORBEYE 4K 3D system (Olympus, Tokyo, Japan), which is primarily used in neurosurgery and otorhinolaryngology. Given its availability and potential applicability in microsurgery, we have also implemented...
