The use of biofeedback in treatment of stress incontinence in women

Authors describe the group of 10 patients in age from 43 to 71 years, undergoing the stress incontinence treatment with rehabilitation using biofeedback at Urology Department in Olomouc during the 1998 year. 1st and 2nd types of incontinence according to Ingelmann - Sundberg classification and according also to McGuire were treated. Urodynamic findings in infants undergoing surgery for lower urinary tract dysfunction

Authors summarize the urodynamic examination results of 14 reconstructive surgeries in infants with lower urinary tract dysfunction (9 girls and 5 boys with cysto-plasty in age 3,5 -15 years). The follow-up period reached from 6 months to 7,5 years. The urinary bladder capacity was increased to 130 - 565 ml by the surgery in all patients. Any correlation to the provided type of enterocystoplasty was not found. The values of reservoir compliance were between 7,8 - 54,5 ml/cm FEO. The authors evaluated the symptoms and signs, number of incidental RCC, stage, diagnostic work-up and especially their changes in a period of 3 5 years. In this retrospective study, 159 patients surgically treated for RCC in the Faculty Hospital in Motol from 1992 to 1997, were rewieved. Radical nephrectomy or resection of the kidney were performed in 156 cases and in 3 only laparotomy for very advanced stage. There were 96 men and 63 women (1,5 : 1), average age 62,4 years. The possibility of complete and valuable urodynamic examination in children is reduced by the degree of their cooperation with investigating surgeon. Especially in small children is often the standard evaluation not possible to provide. Surgery of bladder neck in children and adolescents

Bladder neck surgery represents an important part of the incontinence treatment in children and adolescents. Purpose of the retrospective study was to evaluate 30 patients after the bladder neck repair. They underwent operation between 1986 and 1998 (13 boys and 17 girls). The bladder neck was repaired in 27 patients, closed in 3. Bladder augmentation was indicated in 15 patients, ureterovesicostomy in 12 with vesi-coureteral reflux. Follow-up of 27 patients was performed (15 with augmentation and 12 without augmentation).Six (40 %) children in the group with augmentation are continent, 6 (40 %) significantly improved and 3 (20 %) remain incontinent....

Side effects of imunotherapeutic treatment with BCG vaccine in surface tumors of urinary bladder

This article summarises in side effects of BCG immunotherapy of superficial bladder cancer at 23 patients treated in department of urology Faculty Hospital Prague-Motol in 1992 -1997. In our group average age was 64 years. The group was made up of 18 men and 5 women. During the first 6 weeks cycle of treatment it was noticed irritative symptoms in 39,1 % and during maintenance therapy in 18,1 % of the patients. Hematuria was found during the first cycle in 34,7 % ana during maintenance therapy in 18,1 % of the patients. Combination of both symptoms appeared in 17,4 % during the first cycle of imunotherapy and 9,1 % during maintenance therapy.Fever...
