Introduction and Aim: The therapeutic procedures in the management of testicular germ cell tumors (TGCT) are determined by histological findings in the removed testis and by the extent of the disease at the time of diagnosis. However, all advanced TGCT (stages IIC, III and IV) could be treated by primary chemotherapy regardless of histological findings. The current imaging techniques (ultrasonography of the testis, abdominal and thoracic CT examination) and laboratory tests (determination of serum tumor markers AFP and hCG) provide sufficient evidence for the presence of TGCT. In cases of acute abdominal and/or pulmonary symptoms because of life-threatening...

Autors refer about their experiences with transabdominal laparoscopic approach when removing kidney with tumor. From May 1998, autors as first in Slovac Republic, carried out laparoscopic tumornephrectomy and until December 1999 5 kidneys with tumors were removed. In all these patients transperitoneal approach was used. Autors discuss indications, advantages and results of this surgical technique. In all 5 cases malignant tumor (renal cell carcinoma) was found. The diameter of tumor was in range from 5 to 9 centimeters. There were no serious per or postoperative complications. Duration of operation was 260 - 330 minutes.

The principle of photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an interaction between the light of certain wave lenght and the molecule of the photosensibilizating substance which is selectively uptaked by tumour cells. The result of this interaction are singlent oxygen and other toxic radicals causing destruction of tumour cells. Choice of optimal photosensibilizating substance plays the basic role. In vitro phototoxic effect of synthetic porphine TPPS4 [meso-tetra (4-sulfonatophenyl) porphine] on the human urothelial tumour cells (J82) and benign urotelial cells (UROtsa) is evaluated in our study. Reduction of number of living cells to 6% of control value was a...

A retrospective study of results of optical urethrotomy in 42 patients with 82 procedures is presented. Influence of etiology, duration, localization of stricture and number of procedures upon results of the treatment were evaluated. The less favourable etiological factor was inflamatory origin where was no urethrotomy successful. Stricturel longer than 5 mm were not solved endoscopically as well. Bulbar urethra with short stricture was the only localization where the permanent success was noted. Reccurent optical urethrotomy has had no permanent curable effect. We use endoscopic curative procedure only on these patients who suffer from post-traumatical...
Introital sonographical examination of women suffering from genuine stress incontinence treated by fascial sling uretrosuspension

Introital sonography is a modern method of sonographical examination which allows fast, effective and non-invazive imaging of anatomical and functional conditions of the pelvic floor. Results of sonographic examinations of 27 women suffering from genuine stress incontinence (GSI) surgically treated by fascial sling uretrosuspension on our ward are presented in this study. Comparison of preoperative and postoperative results was done and explicit postoperative mobility restriction of vesicourethral junction was noted. Advantages of introital sonography in diagnostics of urological and uro-genital diseases are underlined by the authors.

Two nine-years old children (girl and boy) with tumour of lower urinary tract were treated on children´s ward of The Department of Urology of The University Hospital in Hradec Králové.Both cases were diagnosed as bladder tumour of transitory epithelium (papilloma). Boy was admited to the hospital with massive haematuria, girl was examined for abdominal pain. The tumour was found by sonography and diagnosis was confirmed by urethrocystoscopy followed by histological examination of biopsy. The resection of the tumour was a treatment. Both of them are followed-up. Girl is been disease-free for 5 years, boy for 6 months. In spite of the fact, that...

Inflammatory complications of an urachus cyst

Ces Urol 2000, 4(4):35-38 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2000027
Inflammatory complication of an urachus cyst is not a frequent pathological unit. It mostly will occur as a surprisingly complicated progress imitating an extensive oncoge-nous disease or as an acute abdominal incidence. Then the operating surgeon is faced with a difficult problem to decide on an optimum solution. The authors describe three cases of inflammatory complication in urachus cyst and the procedure they selected to be applied.
