Objective: Non-invasive diagnosing of malignant diseases is a wish of all physicians. This work presents the group of patients examined by non-invasive laboratory test for diagnosing the recidive of urinary bladder cancer.Method: The authors present the results of the group of 64 patients affected by the recidive of urinary bladder cancer. The qualitative examination of 8 and 18 cytokeratine levels in the urine was made by UBC IRMAR test (Urinary Bladder Cancer test). There was evaluated the ability of UBC IRMAR test to diagnose the recidive of urotelial urinary bladder cancer. Results: 44 positive examinations were found...
Intermitent androgen suppresion in the treatment of prostate cancer

Ces Urol 2003, 7(2):11-16 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2003012
Prostate adenocarcinomas occupy the second position among the malignant carcinomas of male population. The endocrine therapy presents the choice therapy for stage III and IV patients. The response to the hormonal manipulation is limited even in sensitive tumours and the tumour is out of control. Certain possibility to take away the transition to the hormone - independent cancer is the intermittent androgen suppression. We present the group of 33 men treated with IAS. 9 of them formerly underwent the radical surgical or radiation therapy, in 24 the tumour was locally advanced or generalised without precedent therapy. The prostatic specific antigen...

Ces Urol 2003, 7(2):19-21 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2003014
Introduction and aim: Hand assisted laparoscopic nephrectomy (HALN) is described using the pneumoperitoneum. The authors demonstrate their experience with the abdominal wall-lifting device in HALN without using the pneumoperitoneum. For creating an appropriate working space inside the abdomen they used a special abdominal wall-lifting device of their own construction.Materials and methods: Between March 2002 and July 2002 they used this device in 5 HALN without using the pneumoperitoneum. Abdominal wall-lifting device consists of Redon drain (Ch 14), metal plate (optional -different size), metal wire and the arm of the Thompson retractor....

Introduction and aim: The authors demonstrate their experience with the hand assisted tumornephrectomy (HALN) without using the pneumoperitoneum. For creating an sufficient working space inside the abdomen they used a special abdominal wall sealing device.Materials and methods: Between March 2002 and July 2002 they performed 5 hand assisted laparoscopic procedures without using the pneumoperitoneum. The average patient age was 52. The tumor size ranged from 6 up to 10 cm.They performed 4 right sided and one left sided tumornephrectomy. Clinical staging was T1 and T2 without the enlargement of the lymph nodes and distant metastasis.Results:...

Ces Urol 2003, 7(2):26-32 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2003016
The objective of the work: To evaluate the presence of the PAX5 and Shb genes expression in the tissue of superficial urotelial urinary bladder cancers, to judge its correlation with the p53 gene pathology and to consider the prognostic value of individual factors. Patients and Method: 61 patients with histologically proven superficial urotelial bladder cancer were included into the study. The mRNA expression of PAX5 and Shb genes in the cancer tissue was detected by the reverse polymerase chain reaction (RT- PCR) and the result was expressed semiquantitatively. The presence of p53 mutations was recorded by SSCP (single strand conformation...
Cystitis cystica - causes, diagnostic, medical treatment: case report

Ces Urol 2003, 7(2):33-36 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2003017
Praecancerosis In their contribution, the authors deal with a relatively omitted and complicated disorder cystitis cystica (CC), let us say cystitis glandularis (CG), which is a inflammatory disorder of urothel and bladder submucosa, presenting by its cystic rebuilding. The cystic change of urothel and submucosa can happen on all layers of urinary tract : urinary bladder (cystitis cystica), ureter (ureteritis cystica), renal pelvis (pyelitis cystica) and rarely in urethra (urethritis cystica). The authors present a case report of a 51 - year - old patient with histologically verified CC and they are absorbed in thoughts about causes, diagnosis and...

Ces Urol 2003, 7(2):37-39 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2003018
The authors evaluate the experience with the group of 1098 - ureteroscopic operations - made for ureterolithiasis. The operations were made in the years 1992 - 2002 with the average observation period of 56 months. There were 582 women (53%) and 516 men (47%) in the observed group. The average age of the patients in the group was 45 years (19 - 78 years). As -a complicated lithiasis - the operation was evaluated in 483 cases (44%) and the ?double J" stent was placed in these patients, the operation was evaluated as a non-complicated in 615 cases (56%). The authors evaluate the composition of the group with regard to the complications and - the indications...

Collecting ducts Collecting duct carcinoma (collecting duct carcinoma - CDC, Bellini duct carcinoma - BDC) arises from the epithelium of collecting tubules of the kidney. It is very uncommon, with the incidence lower than 1% of all renal cancers and about 80 cases reported in literature only. Its occurrence hasn't been published in available Czech and Slovak literature. Case of 26-year old woman with advanced disease of the right kidney is presented. Etiology of kidney enlargement and vena cava thrombosis could not be distinguished by the imaging methods preoperatively. Tumor diagnosis was done in the time of surgery. Radical nephrectomy was performed...
