Botulinum toxin is a presynaptic neuromuscular blocking agent, which induce reversible muscle weakness. From feared poison he changed to intensive researched drug. Many medical disciplines have discovered the indication for treatment. In urology the first experiences is from 1988, when botulinum toxin was used to treat detrusor-sphincter dyssynergia. Nowadays is mostly used to treat neurogenic detrusor overactivity. Effect of treatment can last 6-9 month and continence is restored in about 90% of the patients. Based on actual knowledges is possible to repeat treatment. Influece on decrease of prostatae volume and painful bladder syndrom is still in...

Objective: Publication of initial experience gained from mini-invasive treatment of children?s bladder overactivity by an intradetrusor application of botulinum A toxin. Material and method: During 2007/2008, 6 children at the age from 5 to 12 years were treated by endoscopic application of botulinum A toxin into detrusor; an application of this method has always followed, when the conservative treatment failed. In two cases, the urinary detrusor hyperactivity was neurogenic; the other four patients have non-neurogenic origin of overactivity. The botulinum A toxin in a dose of 10 IU/kg complying with the children body weight was...

The objective of this article is to present our first experiences with insertion and follow up of nickel-titanium shape memory alloy stents Memokath (Engineers and Doctors, Denmark) in patients with long-term obstruction of urinary tract. We inserted 4 nickel-titanium shape memory Memokath stents from May to December 2006. All patients were men (mean age 69,5 years, range 47-87 years). The stents were inserted in urethral stricture in 3 cases (2 patients for BPH, 1 patient for stricture of bulbar urethra), last Memokath stent was inserted in a patient with ureteral stricture after radiotherapy for GIT tumour. The pacients were followed up for 8...

Objective: Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is a non-invasive method for renal stone treatment. Major complications are: rupture of kidney, spleen and cauda of pancreas. We present two cases of these complications, which demanding urgent surgery. Case 1: Woman, 58 year old, with 6 mm lithiasis in pelviureteral junction of right kidney was carried out the endoscopic relocation of stone, emposed double loop ureteral stent and ESWL with desintegration of lithiasis. The complication was retroperitoneal haematoma. We performed suture of dorsal renal lip and evacuated haematoma. Woman was released 7 days after surgery and...
