Čermák M, Hoření E, Chmelík F, Heráček J, Kočárek J. Robotic extended pelvic lymphadenectomy in a patient with a biochemical recurrence of prostate cancer. Introduction: Prostate cancer is the most common oncological disease in the male population. The incidence of prostate cancer has increased dramatically over the last 20 years. Radical prostatectomy is the surgical method of first choice for the treatment of localized prostate cancer. This operation method is complemented with bilateral pelvic lymphadenectomy in patients with intermediate and high-risk tumors. Description of the clinical case: We present a case report of a 74-year-old patient with...

The issue of prostate cancer screening

Roman Zachoval, Ladislav Dušek, Marek Babjuk

Ces Urol 2018, 22(1):14-26 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2018004

Zachoval R, Dušek L, Babjuk M. Problematika screeningu karcinomu prostaty. Major statement: Screening is an attempt to identify individuals with a certain disease in a broad segment of the population - those for whom there is no reason to suspect the disease. Now there is clear evidence that PSA screening reduces mortality if carried out for 10-15 years. The Czech Republic meets all requirements to perform selective prostate screening, particularly for a certain age group of men and for men with a history of other tumour disease with a life expectancy of 10-15 years. Screening is an attempt to identify individuals with a certain disease in a broad...

Does testosterone substitution therapy influence the seriousness of BHP?

Aleš Horák

Ces Urol 2018, 22(1):27-31 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2018003

Horak A. Does testosterone substitution therapy influence the seriousness of BHP? The development of lower-urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is multifactorial with a significant contribution by tissue ischemia. There is a proven connection between LUTS, BPH and metabolic syndrome (METS). Testosteron replacement therapy (TRT) leads to improvement in tissue ischemia by decreasing moderately significant LUTS and symptoms of chronic prostatitis.

Šmakal O, Šarapatka J, Vrána J, Flögelová H, Kleštincová T. The value of ultrasound evaluation in predicting high-grade vesicoureteral reflux in children under two years of age The main aspect of the paper: A prospective study evaluated the benefit of ultrasound evaluation in predicting grade IV-V vesicoureteral reflux in children aged 0-2 years investigated for asymptomatic upper urinary tract dilation detected on ultrasound screening or after having had acute pyelonephritis. Aim: To assess the value of ultrasound evaluation in predicting grade IV-V vesicoureteral reflux in children aged 0-2 years investigated for postnatal detection of upper urinary...

Ryšánková K, Bartoš V, Krhut J, Albínová T, Šafarčík K, Havránek O, Tomanová R. (-2)proPSA and Prostate Health Index (PHI) in predicting the presence of prostate cancer in transrectal biopsies. Major statement: The yield of Prostate Health index is significantly higher when compared to total PSA or Free PSA index Purpose: At present, new markers are introduced into clinical practice in the diagnosis of prostate cancer. The greatest attention is paid to the isoform of free fraction of prostate‑specific antigen (PSA) (-2)proPSA and the Prostate Health Index (PHI). The aim of this work is to evaluate the sensitivity of these new markers in the prediction...

Paldus V, Šámal V, Mečl J. Rare life-threatening bleeding due to spontaneous rupture of extraadrenal pheochromocytoma. We present a case report of rare life-threatening bleeding due to spontaneous rupture of an extraadrenal pheochromocytoma - paraganglioma. A thirty eight year-old patient with developing hemorhagic shock underwent emergency surgery due to life-threatening spontaneous retroperitoneal bleeding with surprising finding - histologically verified extraadrenal pheochromocytoma.

Ces Urol 2018, 22(1):52-58 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2018005

Hokůvová P, Broul M, Derner M, Čegan M, Schraml J. Rapidly metastising collecting duct carcinoma in combination with a bilateral urothelial carcinoma of renal pelvis. The authors present a case of a rare malignant collecting duct renal tumour, which was diagnosed in combination with a bilateral urothelial carcinoma of renal pelvis; the patient is a 72-year‑old woman. The authors point out the very bad prognosis of that type of carcinoma, which means that there was a time period of 12 months between the diagnosis and metastatic dissemination which led to the death of the patient. The authors would like to emphasise its synchronous occurrence together...

A large rectus sheath haematoma spreading to Retzius' space (chronic antithrombotic therapy) followed by acute kidney injury caused by urinary bladder compression with its spontaneous perforation

Jan Novák, Lubomír Hyršl

Ces Urol 2018, 22(1):59-65 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2018008

Novák J, Hyršl L. A large rectus sheath haematoma spreading to Retzius' space (chronic antithrombotic therapy) followed by acute kidney injury caused by urinary bladder compression with its spontaneous perforation. We present a case report of an eighty‑year old polymorbid female patient using longterm antithrombotic therapy who developed a rectus sheath haematoma dissecting to Retzius' space. Urinary bladder compression caused oligoanuria and acute kidney injury. Spontaneous urinary bladder perforation subsequently developed.
