Hora M, Stránský P, Pitra T, Ürge T, Trávníček I. Laparoscopic radical cystectomy with open ureteroileostomy. Aim of study: The aim of this work is to present our approach to laparoscopic radical cystectomy (LRC), which we introduced in ERAS implementation. ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) in Radical Cystectomy (RC) includes 22 measures, one of which is the use of mini‑invasive approaches. For these reasons, we have implemented laparoscopy for RC, although not all ERAS measures have been introduced. Pure laparoscopy versus robotic has limited possibilities for intracorporal diversion, so we combine laparoscopic ablation phase with extracorporal...

Balík M, Hušek P, Špaček J. Robotic‑assisted radical cystectomy in a woman. Purpose: A short video is presented of robotic‑assisted radical cystectomy, hysterectomy, adnexectomy, and prophylactic appendectomy with intracorporeal Bricker diversion. Material and methods: A patient with a BMI of 36.6 to under went the above procedure for high grade invasive urothelial carcinoma - pT2N0M0 - with squamous cell differentiation. Presurgical preparation and peri- as well as postoperative care were preformed according to the ERAS (enhancedearly recovery after surgery) protocol. During the procedure, both ureters were dissected into the pelvis where...

Trachta J, Kynčl M, Škába R. Diagnosis, therapy and urological complications of cloacal malformations. Major Statement: A review article about the diagnostic tools and management of persistent cloaca malformation that belongs to one of the most complex new-born anomalies with a need of the life-long follow-up by pediatric and general urologist. The majority of cloaca patients undergo multiple reconstructive procedures. Cloacal malformation is the most severe form of anorectal malformation in girls. The complex treatment is possible only in specialized pediatric centers and life-long follow-up is needed. Females with persistent cloaca suffer also from...

Ces Urol 2019, 23(1):30-35 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2019001
Luňáček L, Skalka R, Krhut J. A urologists view of hematuria in pediatric patients. Major statement: The aim of the paper is to provide an overview about hematuria in pediatric patients in urological practice. Hematuria is defined as the presence of erythrocytes in the urine. The spectrum of causes of hematuria is the same in pediatric and adult patients. However, the frequency of the individual causes of hematuria is different in pediatric and adults patients. The aim of this paper is to provide a brief overview of hematuria in pediatric patients in urological practice.

Háček J, Brisuda A, Čechová M, Babjuk M. Correlation of expression of Ki-67, MCM2, MCM5 and p53 in tissue specimens and cell blocks in patients with urothelial carcinoma. Major statement: The study deals with immunocytochemistry as an additional method to urinary cytology examination. We present the correlation of selected immunochemical markers expression in tissues and cell blocks in patients with urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma. Aim: The aim of the study is to verify whether expression of selected immunochemical markers in tumor tissue of patients with urinary bladder urothelial carcinoma correlates with expression in cytology (cell block)...

Major statement: The combination of MRI and PSA density can be safely used to decide whether or not to perform a prostate biopsy in patients with elevated PSA as long as appropriate PIRADS and PSAD thresholds are used. Aim: The aim of this prospective study was to show the benefits of PSA density and MRI in reduction of unnecessary biopsies without compromising detection of significant prostate cancer of patients in first biopsy and rebiopsy groups. Straka O, Staněk Z. Bilateral laparoscopic adrenalectomy for metachronous adrenal metastases of renal cell carcinoma. In this article we present a patient with bilateral adrenal metastasis of renal carcinoma who underwent simultaneuos bilateral laparoscopic adrenalectomy after left radical laparoscopic nephrectomy. Simultaneous bilaterat adrenal metastasis of renal cell carcinoma are very rare. In this article, we present a case of a 64 years old male who underwent left radical nephrectomy for renal cell carcinoma. After 2 years CT scan revealed a suspected malignant mass in both adrenal glands. The patient then underwent simultaneous bilateral laparoscopic...
Self‑mutilation of the urogenital tract - is the solution limited to urologists?
Babajide Adedokun

Kajfozs P, Grepl M. A condom as a bizarre foreign body in the urinary bladder in a 19-year-old man. Findings of a foreign object at the lower urinary tract of the urotract have been already described many times. There were commonly solid objects (thermometers, pencils, wires or rigid hoses) which were put into the urotract from various reasons, we describe the finding of a 19-year-old male bladder condom in a short case.
