Chromophobic kidney carcinoma is one of the kidney carcinomas which can be easily verified by histology. In spite of its rather rare occurance (about 5% of all kidney carcinomas), chromophobic kidney carcinoma represents - together with the clear cell carcinoma and papillary carcinoma - the third most frequent carcinoma in this area. The exact histological classification is extremely important because - in comparison with the clear cell carcinoma and papillary carcinoma - the prognosis of chromophobic kidney carcinoma is significantly better. It has been proved that the generalization of this type of carcinoma occurs much later, and, unless a sarcomatous...

Ces Urol 2000, 4(1):9-13 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2000002

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the success rate and the safety of treatment of strictures of ureterointestinal anastomosis following urinary diversions according to Carney and Wallace using wallstents. In the period from 1986 to 1998, a study was made of a total of 49 patients with urinary diversion according to Carney and 28 patients with urinary diversion according to Wallace, who had undergone radical cystectomy for infiltrative tumours of the bladder. Wallstents were introduced in cases of formation of ureterointestinal strictures.During the study, 10 strictures of ureterointestinal anastomosis in 8 patients were formed in a period...

Aneurysm of the abdominal aorta imitating the nephralgia of the right kidney

M. Hora, L. Jarolím

Ces Urol 2000, 4(1):14-17 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2000003

The aneurysm of the abdominal aorta (AAA) is a severe disease the occurance of which is increasing and continues to have a high mortality. Currently, AAA has been incidentally diagnostified as asymptomatic in most cases, only 25% cases are symptomatic. Symptomatic AAA is usually manifested by a stomachache and a backache. In some patients the renal colic can be imitated. In this article, the case of a 56-year-old man, a former smoker, with ICHS after IM is presented. The patient was referred by his general practitioner to the urology clinic to be treated for renal colic. Only the acute sonography identified the proper cause of the problem - AAA. The...

Z. Kurcinová, L. Valanský, V. Nagy, Ľ. Podracká

Ces Urol 2000, 4(1):18-22 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2000004

Primary obstructive megaureter (POM) was surgically tretated in a group 69 children at the age of 2,5 months - 4 years (mean 10,5 m.). At the time of diagnosis, from 82 ureterorenal units 52 (63%) showed damage to renal function, 3 5 (51%) children suffered from coexistent symptomatic urinary infection. In 32 children temporary percutanneous nephrostomy (2 bilat.) was performed because of pyelonephritis, extreme dilatation and/or renal damage. In 19 (56%) it has led to significant decrease of the grade of dilatation enabling to reimplant the ureter without the need of tapering. With 65 ureters Paquin method of reimplantation was used, 17 ones were...

Objectives: Indications for varicocele repair in children and adolescents remain controversial. A prospective multicenter study started in 1996. Preliminary data relating to clinical and hormonal findings in patients with varicocele are presented to challenge the present criteria for an early operation. Methods: 146 children and adolescents, aged 7-17 years, have been involved in the study since 1996. Clinical assessment of the varicocele, grade and pubertal stage, ultra-sonographic study, determination of basal and stimulation hormonal levels were performed. Results: A hypoplastic testis was found in 36% of patients with a grade II.-III. varicocele...
