Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):4-8 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001010
The number of 805 patients with BPH symptoms treated with alfuzosin for three months were included in the open multicentric study. Patients were treated with Xatral? 5SR 5mg twice a day without doses titration. Patients were monitored regularly every month during the studied period. We evaluated the International Prostatic Symptoms Score (l-PSS), questionnaire for benign prostatic hyperplasia of American Urology Association (AUA) and the erectile function, the blood pressure was monitored, we followed new medications and searched for adverse events. Main criteria of evaluation included safety and effectiveness of studied drug and drug influence on...
A new method of ureterolithiasis localization during ESWL

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):9-12 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001011
A frequent part of urological management in blocking ureterolithiasis is introduction of an ureteral stent. Special ureteral stent has strong x-ray contrasting markers forming thin rings in 25mm distances on the full length of stent. The following ESWL allows an exact skiascopic localization of concretion in the horizontal and vertical planes. Minimal role plays the influence of unfavorable localization conditions like low contrast of concretion, flatulence, obesity and also summation of concretion shadow with skeletal parts. Particularly in the vertical location plane (oblique position of arm C) it is unnecessary to identify the solitary concretion,...
Interstitial laser coagulation of prostate

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):13-16 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001012
The goal of laser coagulation (ILC) of prostate is to reduce the obstruction of lower urinary tract. The multiple application of laser energy into the prostatic interstitium creates focuses of coagulation necrosis in size from 2 to 2,5 cm, which undergo the further resorption, and finally cause the volume reduction of obstructing tissue. Authors provided interstitial laser coagulation using the Indigo 830e equipment in 30 patients, in 15 of them on an in-patient basis and in 15 of them on an out-patient basis. Procedures were provided under spinal or regional anesthesia. Statistical significant improvement of the symptomatic score IPSS (p<0,01),...

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):17-19 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001013
We demonstrate problems in clinical and morphological diagnosis of renal papillary cell carcinoma on the case of 24 years old patient, who had a blunt trauma of lumbar region due to an vehicle accident. Clinical findings were impressive of an organized haematoma in renal cyst. Histological examination revealed cystic degeneration of renal papillary carcinoma.
An unusual case of metastasis localization of prostatic carcinoma
V. Vít, D. Pacík
Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):20-22 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001014
Authors describe a case report of unusual dissemination of the prostatic carcinoma following the radical prostatectomy. The case report shows that even with the strict adhering to rules for correct indication and with use of all routine investigation methods the illness dissemination must not be detected on time. This leads to radical treatment failure, namely in cases with isolated visceral metastasis and minimal elevation of PSA values.
Fatal consequences of a paraneoplastic syndrome in a patient with prostatic carcinoma
V. Vít, D. Pacík, M. Penka
Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):23-26 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001015
In their case report authors mention paraneoplastic symptoms, which are often forgotten and underestimated in the clinical practice. These symptoms can be the first sign of a malign disease and can therefore help with its soon detection, but on the other hand they can be associated with the danger of severe complications influencing dramatically the further course of disease.
Urologic complications of nephrogenous diabetes insipidus
M. Hora, M. Košťák
Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):27-29 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001016
Congenital nephrogenous diabetes insipidus (CNDI) develops from hereditary insensitivity of distal tubular cells to antidiuretic hormone. Severe forms with diuresis up to 10 litres per day can extend beyond the transport capacity of urinary tract with resulting urologie complications.Authors present a case of 37-year-old male with CNDI and daily diuresis of 10 litres. Patient had a history of acute surgery for urinous peritonitis after rupture of megavesica following abdominal trauma at 16 years of age. Bilateral megaureters were also diagnosed, but the values of creatinin clearance and serum creatinin (SC) gave normal results that time. During...

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):30-32 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001017
Urologist is faced to defects of coagulative factors relatively rarely. We describe the case of patient with factor VII defect who underwent a successful TURP procedure.Patient V.J. (68 years of age) was referred to our department with permanent catheter introduced due to retention on the BHP basis. Urination difficulties lasted for approximately one year, an attempt of catheter removal during alfa blockers therapy was unsuccessful. Bleeding after prostatic biopsy (PSA 5,2 ng/ml, histology BPH) led to the hematological investigation with finding of congenital defect in factor VII (the same defect was identified also in his children and brother)....

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):38-40 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001019
Chronic inflammations of prostate are crux urologicum. In comparison to other prostatic diseases (benign prostatic hyperplasia, prostatic carcinoma) they require significantly more follow-ups. The cultivation of pathogenic agents is in cca 80 % unsuccessful and only symptomatic treatment is available. Aim of this work is to show the less usual pathogens that can cause the inflammation. On a case of three men with longtime symptoms we document the diagnostic and treatment options in mycotic prostatitis. The first line drug is fluconazolum.Mycotic prostatitis is a severe systemic illness. Untreated complicated inflammation influences the life...
Duplex urethra associated with cryptorchidism and esophageal atresia

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):41-43 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001020
Authors present a case report of a boy with incomplete urethral duplicity of epispadic type, associated with bilateral defect of testicular descend and esophageal atresia. Cryptorchidism and esophageal anomaly have required an operative correction, the urethral duplication does nor require any treatment. The described combination of multiple congenital anomalies is rare.
Results of microsurgical varicocelectomy

Ces Urol 2001, 5(2):44-46 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2001021
Microsurgical varicocelectomy (MVE) represents a standard and highly effective treatment method of varicocele indicated for correction. After introducing this method to our workplace we analyze results of the first group of 97 patients with 105 MVE provided from April 1998 to June 2000. During the average follow-up period of 10 months the subclinical recurrence of varicocele was documented in one patient (1 %), postoperative hydrocele in 0 %, and postoperative complications in 3 patients (3 %) - 2 cases of secondary wound healing and one case of incipient epididymitis. The average duration of stay in hospital was 1,11 day, none of the patient required...
