The role of pad tests in evaluation of urinary incontinence

Jan Krhut, Peter Zvara, Roman Zachoval

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):141-145 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012025

Pad testing is a noninvasive and easy to perform method used to detect and quantify urine leakage. A short term pad test is generally used to identify the presence or absence of leakage. A long term pad test is used to quantify urinary leakage. The one-hour pad test is the only version that has been standardized. Despite this lack of standardization, pad tests are considered to be an importanL primary diagnostic tool, as well as a method for evaluation of treatment efficacy in both the urological practice and clinical research.

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):146-156 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012026

Aim:The objective of this article is to present the recent development and literature rewiev on laparoendoscopic single-site surgery (LESS) in urology.Method:In 2007 studies were published using small cohorts and were plagued by technical problems such as insufficient instruments and ports. To advance the technique of minimally invasive laparoscopy further development of new adapted instrumentation (multiluminal ports, flexibile and prebent instruments, modified optics) was needed. Currently a large number of new accessories for LESS technique is available. The LESS procedures are most commonly performed on the upper urinary...

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):157-162 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012027

Aim:We present our initial experience with a novel self-cinching unidirectional barbed suture V Loc, for vesico-urethral anastomosis during laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Methods:We evaluated a cohort of 50 consecutive patients who underwent laparoscopic radical prostatectomy with V-Loc tailored vesico-urethral anastomosis. Results:Median follow-up was 4 months. The mean time of anastomosis was 14 minutes. We recorded one case of temporary urine secretion into the drain and no anastomotic stricture.Conclusion:Vesico-urethral anastomosis with V-Loc suture during a laparoscopic radical prostatectomy...

Otakar Čapoun, Roman Sobotka, Petr Macek, Tomáš Hanuš

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):163-170 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012028

Aim:The aim of this study was to identify parameters predictive of prostate cancer (PC) in saturation prostate biopsy (SPB) and its comparison to outcomes of prostate re-biopsy using the standard technique. Methods:A total of 108 patients underwent SPB at the Dpt. of Urology, General Teaching Hospital, Prague between September 2010 and January 2012. Prior to SPB each patient underwent at least one standard biopsy with negative or suspicious result. In addition following parameters were recorded in each patient: Total and free prostate-specific antigen (PSA) value, prostate size, PSA density, number of cores, total length of...

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):171-179 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012029

Aim:To evaluate the presence of abnormalities in serum hormone levels and semen analysis in patients under 49 years of age with chronic kidney disease (CKD) awaiting renal transplantation, and correlate the duration of haemodialysis and abnormalities with semen analysis. Methods:All male patients, age 18 to 49 with CKD on haemodialysis, awaiting kidney transplant, treated in cooperating haemodialysis centers, between September 2009 and April 2011, that met inclusion criteria, were included in the study. The causes of CKD were identified, and duration of haemodialysis was recorded. The following tests were performed: semen analysis,...

Percutaneous nephrolithotomy in transplanted kidney - a case report

Milan Král, David Hradil, Břetislav Brázda, Jaroslav Pernička, Karel Krejčí, Josef Zadražil, Vladimír Študent

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):180-183 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012030

We present a case report of a patient with an asymptomatic kidney stone, which was diagnosed postoperatively after cadaveric kidney transplantation due to chronic renal failure. Intervention became necessary when dislocation of the stone into the pelviureteral junction caused anuria due to kidney obstruction. A DJ stent was inserted cystoscopically followed by percutaneous stone extraction. Perioperatively and postoperatively there were no complications. Post procedure the patient was in good health and laboratory test had normalized. In addition to shock-wave lithotrypsy and ureteroscopy percutaneous treatment of concrements in a transplanted kidney...

Fungal bezoar as an atypical cause of distal ureteral stenosis: report of a case from the surgical perspective

Peter Weibl, Tobias Klatte, Matthias Waldert

Ces Urol 2012, 16(3):184-187 | DOI: 10.48095/cccu2012031

The authors describe a case of an atypical fungal bezoar of the bladder in the area of the right ureteral orifice with consecutive hydro-nephrosis. The further management from surgical perspective is discussed when hydro-nephosis after transurethral resection of the bladder (TUR-B) and systemic treatment with antifungal triazol (voriconazole) persisted.

This article presents a case report of a non-compliant patient with slow progression of scrotal expansion. After surgery and radio-diagnostic procedures germinal cell tumor (NSGCT), pT4cNOcMO, S1. For three years, following the initial diagnosis, the patient continualy refused the recommended treatment Due to local tumor progression, the patient underwent an extensive radical excision of the inguinoscrotal region with a penectomy, urethral perineostomywith adverse and uncertain prognosis.
